LAS VEGAS – May 09, 2019 – Nathan Adelson Hospice today announced its Osteopathic Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine Program has achieved initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Nathan Adelson Hospice’s program is the only Osteopathic Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship in the state of Nevada and one of only eleven in the country offering board certification in the specialized care of people with serious illnesses.
The ACGME is responsible for accrediting the majority of graduate medical training programs for physicians in the United States. This new accreditation now allows the program to accept both medical doctors (MDs) and osteopathic physicians (DOs) as Fellows.

Both nationally and locally there is a severe shortage of hospice and palliative board certified physicians and participating in a formalized clinical fellowship is the only avenue to obtain certification.”
“In the past, highly qualified MDs wanted to join our Fellowship Program so they could become board certified in Hospice and Palliative Care,” said Program Director Catrisha Cabanilla-Del Mundo, DO. “Our new accreditation now allows them to join osteopathic physicians in training for the important medical specialty.”
