LAS VEGAS – Nov. 30, 2021 – Nathan Adelson Hospice, the oldest, largest and only non-profit hospice in Nevada, will host its 3rd annual “Luminaries of Love” lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at Downtown Summerlin®. Participants are invited to donate and personalize luminary bags to honor those who have passed and those still living, who bring light to our lives.
The tradition of the luminary became popular throughout New Mexico, Utah and Nevada as a visual tribute of honor and love and has spread to communities across the nation as they emulate this radiant Southwestern tradition.
“We are grateful to get together again to continue this annual tradition and host a comforting ceremony for our community,” said Nathan Adelson Hospice’s President and CEO Karen Rubel. “The grieving process is never easy, especially during the holidays, and we are here to let people know they are a part of a community with others who have experienced similar feelings. This thoughtful time of reflection allows everyone to remember the joy and light loved ones brought to their lives.”
After the lighting ceremony, the luminaries will continue to memorialize loved ones at both Nathan Adelson Hospice inpatient unit locations through early January. Donations from the personalized luminaries help provide dignified and compassionate care to the terminally ill and their families.
